The Donald Chronicles, #15 – Feb. 8, 2017

1. Lies, lies, lies …

From Mother Jones, FEB. 6, 2017

“Kellyanne Conway Is a Lying Hack”

“Kellyanne Conway insists that her reference to the “Bowling Green massacre” was an honest mistake. Guess what?

In an interview with conducted by phone days earlier, on Sunday, Jan. 29, Conway used the same phrasing, claiming that President Barack Obama called for a temporary “ban on Iraqi refugees” after the “Bowling Green massacre.” (The quotes did not appear in either of two stories recently published on

“He did, it’s a fact,” she said of Obama. “Why did he do that? He did that for exactly the same reasons. He did that because two Iraqi nationals came to this country, joined ISIS, traveled back to the Middle East to get trained and refine their terrorism skills, and come back here, and were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre of taking innocent soldiers’ lives away.

….In a follow-up text exchange Sunday night, Conway wrote, “Frankly they were terrorists in Bowling Green but their massacre took place in Iraq. At least this got clear-thinking people to focus on what did happen in Bowling Green. I gave new life to that ABC News investigative report and the fact that these two Iraqi nationals came to the US with a plan of death and destruction.”

So the whole thing was deliberate, and she’d already given it a test run before she mentioned it on Hardball on February 2. She lied about the “massacre,” and then she lied some more after she was caught. She also lied to Cosmo about the Iraqis joining ISIS and traveling back to the Middle East. But hey—at least it got people thinking about refugees being terrorists, and that’s what counts, amirite?

From this point forward, we should all assume that everything Conway says is a lie unless proven otherwise.”

#Won’t someone deliver us from this infuriating person?

2. Trump makes false statement about U.S. murder rate to sheriffs’ group.

“President Trump falsely claimed that “the murder rate in our country is the highest it’s been in 47 years,” during a meeting with county sheriffs on Feb. 7 at the White House. (Photo: Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post)

President Trump met Tuesday morning with a group of sheriffs from the National Sheriffs Association, a group that consists of more than 3,000 sheriffs from around the country. And to this sworn group of  law enforcement veterans, with reporters taking notes, he again repeated a falsehood about the murder rate in America.

Trump told the sheriffs, “the murder rate in our country is the highest it’s been in 47 years.” He blamed the news media for not publicizing this development, then added, “But the murder rate is the highest it’s been in, I guess, 45 to 47 years.”

The country’s murder rate is not the highest it’s been in 47 years. It is almost at its lowest point, actually, according to the FBI, which gathers statistics every year from police departments around the country.”

#As Dan Rather said: “A lie is a lie is a lie”. These people have obviously made lying their life work.

3. And yet more lies

“This Is Madness”,

from Esquire, Feb. 6, 2017, by Charles P. Pierce

“What about the people who might have to follow this guy’s orders?

Today, the president went to McDill Air Force Base to chat with some of the members of the military of whom he is the commander-in-chief, god help the civilized world. His basic pitch to them is the same as his basic pitch to everyone these days—to wit, was that an awesome campaign or what?

“That’s so nice. A lot of spirit. We have tremendous spirit. We had a wonderful election, didn’t we?”

Then it was time to discuss the terrorist threat.

“To these forces of death and desiccation, America and it’s allies will defeat you. We will defeat them. We will defeat Radical Islamic terrorism. The challenges facing our nation are very large — very, very large. We are up against an emery that celebrates death and worships destruction. Radical Islamic terrorists are determined to strike our homeland, as they did on 9/11, from Boston to Orlando to San Bernadino.”

Not a single one of the terrorists involved in the referenced attacks came from any of the seven countries named in his executive order. Neither were any of them five-month old babies who needed heart surgeries.

“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported. And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it… They have their reasons and you understand that.”

Got that? There are terrorist attacks happening and the media not only are not reporting them, they don’t want to report them because (they have their) reasons. There probably was a massive truck bombing right at the end of your street last night and it didn’t even make the local evening news because the anchor team of Todd Coiffure and Kim Kimclone are secretly sympathetic to ISIS and kept the news from you. Before we go to Tony al-Baghdadi with tonight’s weather, here’s a word from the great folks down at Caliphate Trucks.

This is madness. Worse, this is madness presented as leadership to the people who may have to react and respond to actual acts of actual terrorism, and who have bigger problems with which to cope than whether or not the C-in-C’s elevator goes all the way to the penthouse. I have absolutely no idea what would go through the mind of a rookie airman who hears this fantastical drivel and wonders how he has come under the command of a guy who seems to be channeling Alex Jones through the fillings in his teeth. It’s every day now, and I can’t even imagine what a critical mass of this craziness would look like, and I’m pretty sure I don’t want to know.”

#To repeat, a lie is a lie is a lie.
