Rinconada Canyon, Rinconada, NM

This is my name for an otherwise unidentified small canyon system that is found immediately east of the town of Rinconada, NM. A small drainage passes under Hwy 68 at the east end of Rinconada, adjacent to the NM State Highway maintenance yard. It’s a short walk up the arroyo to where it branches. I usually stay with the main branch, which heads more to the east. The mini-canyons are contained within a basin that is cut into the very soft Tesuque formation. Spring wildflowers can be counted on to decorate these canyons. Here is the link to the more extensive Flickr collection: https://www.flickr.com/photos/stevenrichardmiller/sets/72157644524360433/
